Lithium will belong to Mexicans: president reaffirms defense of strategic mineral

#GobiernoDeMéxico.- «They are not going to put us against the wall; lithium, which is coveted by both corporations and foreign governments, will belong to Mexico», affirmed President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

In a morning press conference he reiterated that this strategic mineral will be legally protected due to its importance for the nation’s development.

«Lithium is the white gold and they covet it, that is why they are against the reform of the Constitution», he emphasized.

The President condemned the fact that the opposition groups have leaked to Congress a foreign lobbyist in the middle of the discussion of a matter of national interest, such as the reform on electricity matters, which will be discussed on Sunday, April 17.
